Fall Foliage

first_imgThis is one of my favorite times of the year.  Whenever you have a rainy summer, the fall leaf color is beautiful.  In my days of coaching cross country I remember the trips to places like Rising Sun, Union County, and Columbus where we were able, not only to see the changing leaves on the way to and from the meet, but also run on wooded courses where you ran right past and through some of these beautiful scenes.  One of our favorite parks in which to run was the Muscatatuck State Park in North Vernon where we ran the Jennings County Invitational every year.  At one time the sectional was also at this park.  When the meet was over, you wanted to stay and have a picnic.  Batesville is now back to running Connersville, but in those days we ran them all the time and ran through the wooded grounds of Connersville High School.  This was another favorite park.  At one time we went to Jeffersonville for an invitational and the trip to and from Clark County took us through counties like Jefferson, Scott, and Clark where people recommend you take a hike to enjoy the fall foliage.  We just upped the pace a little bit.last_img read more
