CHELSEA VS ARSENAL

first_imgCHELSEA (4-2-3-1)COURTOIS, IVANOVIC, ZOUMA, CAHILL, AZPILICUETA,FABREGAS, MATIC,PEDRO, WILLIAN, HAZARD, COSTAARSENAL (4-2-3-1)GIROUD, SANCHEZ, OZIL, RAMSEY, CAZORLA, COQUELIN,MONREAL, KOSCIELNY, MERTESACKER, BELLERIN, CECHReigning champions Chelsea are suffering their worst-ever start to a Barclays Premier League campaign after losing three of their last four league games – equal to the number of games they lost throughout the whole of last season.Indeed, their four points from five games, which leaves them in 17th place in the table, represents the club’s worst start to a top-flight campaign since 1986, when they drew three and lost two of their first five.It is only the third time that Chelsea boss JosÈ Mourinho has lost successive games and the first since May 2006 when the Blues had already confirmed the title before losing 1-0 in their final two games. But if they failed to find the target against Arsenal – and former goalkeeper Petr Cech – it will be the first time Mourinho has ever seen his Chelsea side fail to score in three league games in a row.It will be an emotional return to Stamford Bridge for Cech, who won 13 major trophies – including four Premier League titles – during his 11 years at Chelsea.Arsenal should face a former favourite themselves, with Cesc Fabregas featuring in Chelsea’s midfielder having returned to the Premier League from Barcelona last summer.Arsenal, having started the season with a home defeat to West Ham, are improving and sit in third place after beating Stoke 2-0 last Saturday.last_img read more

MACCA ON THE MOVE: FORMER HARPS STAR JOINS SOUTHEND UNITED

first_imgFormer Finn Harps FC and Derry City player Stephen McLaughlin has left Nottingham Forest and has signed for Southend United FC. McLaughlin enjoyed a hugely successful loan spell with Southend and his goal in the play-off semi-final secured their place in the final at Wembley.Southend manager Phil Brown had been hugely impressed by his performances and was keen to acquire the services of McLaughlin for the season ahead. After weeks of negotiations McLaughlin and his team of advisers finally pushed through the transfer with just a few days of the window still open.McLaughlin’s move to Nottingham Forest never really took off since he signed with them in January 2013.He spent the majority of his time at the City Ground on loan to lower league clubs. There was a huge influx of managers during his two-year stint and a lot of unrest during that period which didn’t help the talented Donegal midfielder. However, McLaughlin will be delighted to have secured the two-year deal at Southend and will hope he can cement a regular place in the side.MACCA ON THE MOVE: FORMER HARPS STAR JOINS SOUTHEND UNITED was last modified: August 28th, 2015 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:newsSportlast_img read more
