Building approvals have surged in these Queensland regions

first_imgBuilding approval figures have jumped in central and far north Queensland.THINGS are looking up for central and far north Queensland with new figures revealing a surge in building approvals.According to Master Builders Queensland, Australian Bureau of Statistics figures for April reveal Central Queensland approvals are up 83 per cent in the past quarter and Far North Queensland approvals are up 42 per cent during the same period.On the Gold Coast approvals were up by more than 50 per cent while figures dropped on the Sunshine Coast by almost 10 per cent.Within the Greater Brisbane region building approvals were up by almost 30 per cent.More from newsMould, age, not enough to stop 17 bidders fighting for this home4 hours agoBuyers ‘crazy’ not to take govt freebies, says 28-yr-old investor4 hours agoMaster Builders deputy CEO Paul Bidwell said while many regions recorded good figures there were some towns or pockets which were still struggling.In Mackay approvals were s down 13.5 per cent in the past quarter.He said hopefully the areas which had experienced an increase could sustain that.On a year on year basis figures are still down, but Mr Bidwell hoped the latest results were the sign of a turn around.In Queensland approvals were down 17 per cent compared to this time last year but were up 28 per cent in April.“Things are still cooling but the April figures show that the market is still relatively optimistic,’’ he said.last_img
