Yankees injury updates: Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton in Triple-A for rehab assignments

first_img Giancarlo Stanton injury update: Yankees slugger crushes 2 homers in rehab game OFFICIAL: Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge will be rehabbing at the DBAP tonight.Tickets: https://t.co/Uz0uyjrDg4 https://t.co/Chec4gMDcU— Durham Bulls (@DurhamBulls) June 14, 2019While tickets will be scarce in Durham, the Yankees and their fans will be focused on their sluggers’ progress as they near a return to the majors after missing the bulk of the season to date. Stanton has been out since the opening series of the season with a shoulder problem, followed by a calf strain suffered earlier in the rehab process, while Judge has been out since April 20 with a strained oblique — just two in a never-ending series of injuries for New York this season, but obviously two significant losses.  While Judge will be in a game situation Friday for the first time since going on the injured list, Stanton hit three home runs in two games with Single-A Tampa earlier this week. B-3rd: HE DID IT AGAIN!HOME RUN, GIANCARLO STANTON!!!!A blast off the batter’s eye puts us back in front – his 3rd HR in 3 games with the #Tarpons!End- 3rd: Tampa 2, Fort Myers 1 pic.twitter.com/anhc6phire— Tampa Tarpons (@TampaTarpons) June 12, 2019The Yankees have managed to thrive despite the absence of the two most intimidating hitters in their lineup, entering the weekend in first place in the AL East with a 41-26 record. Barring any setbacks this weekend, both could rejoin the lineup in New York on Monday. In the meantime, the pair could very well put on a show in Durham this weekend, though they won’t be getting a free steak regardless of what they end up hitting. The rules of that legendary ballpark promotion were changed a few years back to exclude opposing players from the reward.
